The revised personal income tax bands change the starting point for an estimate. Here’s what to revisit before using an older take-home calculation.

A new starting point for your moving budget
If you are weighing up a Cyprus salary or planning your household budget, an older tax estimate is worth revisiting. Cyprus revised its personal income tax bands for the 2026 tax year: the tax-free band is €22,000, with progressive rates of 20%, 25%, 30% and 35% above it.
This is a recap of the 2026 reform, not a new announcement in October. Our income tax guide has the current band table and explains how the progressive calculation works.
A salary estimate is only part of the picture
When comparing a Cyprus salary with your current income, apply the bands to annual taxable income rather than treating a monthly salary as the tax-band amount. Then compare your income estimate with the costs you expect to pay each month.
Tax residency, income type and any available exemptions still matter. A change to the standard bands does not mean every new resident qualifies for the same tax treatment.
Build a budget you can actually use
Use the calculator for a first check, not as a payslip prediction. It assumes all the income entered is taxable and does not apply personal deductions, exemptions, social insurance or GESY.
- Replace an older standard-band estimate with a 2026 estimate.
- Keep income tax separate from contributions and other deductions.
- Confirm any employment exemption or personal relief with a licensed Cyprus tax professional before relying on it.
The short version
Recheck estimates based on pre-2026 income tax bands. The tax-free band is now €22,000, but income after income tax alone is not the same as your actual take-home pay.
